Located on the ground floor of the Calgary Municipal Building and accessible across from the New Central Library on 3rd Street S.E., A.C.E. has four spacious classrooms, two supplementary fun rooms, a large gymnasium and a divided outdoor play space all designed to meet the needs of the resident age groups.
Room 1 is home to our infants (6-18 months), Room 2 is for our toddlers (19-35 months), Room 3 is for our young preschoolers (32 months to 48 months) and Room 4 is for our older preschoolers (4-6 yrs).
Each classroom has easy accessibility to child sized washrooms and diapering areas are positioned to allow for privacy as well as supervision of other children. Each spacious classroom is also designed to be as open as possible for better supervision of children and conducive to creating age appropriate play areas based on children's needs, interests and abilities.
The outdoor facility is divided into 2 play areas: the first is for Room 1 and 2, and the second for Room 3 and 4. Each play area has age appropriate play structures, sheds to house toys and equipment and the entire outdoor space is enclosed by a high fence offering two separate exits.
We are accessible from the street at the north end of the playground by coded gate. There is also a doorbell here. There are also other entrances to the program from within the Municipal building requiring badges for entry. The main entrance to the centre which is by the bigger play area is secured with a coded door and the emergency exit gate located by the smaller play area is securely locked at all times from the outside.
